Philip Wallace - Notary Public. 020 7940 4000

What is a notarised translation? Back to Home page Back to Home page

Generally this is where the translator signs a statutory declaration in front of the notary that the translation is true and correct.

Clients often ring up saying they have had a translation done by an agency and they need it notarised. This can only be done if the translator is in front of the notary. It is not usually possible after the translation has been done because agencies often send papers abroad. The notary cannot therefore notarise the translation if the translator isn't here.

The translation can still be notarised if another person familiar with both languages goes to the notary to make the declaration. All parts of the document must be translated.

For short documents of one page (eg. a birth certificate) in Italian, German or French, Mr Wallace may be able to certify the translation himself without the need for a translator.
